Learn About Klonopin & Effective Panic Disorder Treatments

what are my chances of stopping klonopin cold turkey i cant afford to see the dr nomore?

ive been on meds for26yrs last august i was switched to klonopin. will i have withdrawls? i can handle this. im worried about seizures as i cant afford to go to the dr anymore. could a nurse or dr answer this question for me please?

Chosen Answer:

Can you please talk this over with your doctor, and ask him if he can see you for a reduced fee, and also, have him get you the Klonopin through this program from the drug company which is set up to help people with money problems? I am a nurse who has worked in the mental health field, also have been on meds myself. I would never recommend just going off Klonopin even if you can’t afford it, because you are on it because you need it! Maybe a local hospital or the county health dep’t has a mental health clinic that can help you?

When I had no insurance for a while, my doctor was nice enough to give me my Cymbalta (antidepressant) free: When drug company salesmen came to his office, as they do each week, they always drop off samples, and maybe your doc would do that, too.

Police officer who develops a panic disorder?

Panic attacks run in our family. Luckily I escaped it. My cousin, who is a cop, thought he did to. Three years into working for the Raleigh, Nc police, he has developed regular panic attacks. Is this common place for cops? They have reffered him to therapy, but said if he is unable to overcome the disorder in 90-180 days, he should consider resigning, or may be asked to leave. Panic attacks and anxiety disorder are the most common mental disorders known to man. In fact about 1 in 9 of us suffer some form of it. So what should he do?

Chosen Answer:

Follow the advice he has been given. A cop especially if he has a partner needs to be able to make competent split second decisions when necessary, his life or his partner’s life could hang in the balance and a moments hesitation can be deadly. I know it sucks because for him to want to be a cop shows he wants to do good for others in this case, the good he can do is to resign IF he is unable to control his anxiety. has he tried that program they advertise on TV? Tell him to try it along with what ever therapy he is doing. He needs to try every avenue to keep the job he seems to love.

What are the effects of a combination of Klonopin, alcohol, and marijuana?

Yesterday was 4/20, so my boyfriend decided to recreationally take 4 mg of Klonopin, drink, and smoke all day. I haven’t been able to get a hole of him and he is about 80 miles away at his school, so It is not easy to get there. Should I be concerned with this combinations? When I last talked to him his speech was slurred, nothing made sense, and he was irrational. I’m just concerned about his well being at the moment.

Chosen Answer:

I take Klonopin for panic attacks…and it alone can have major side effects. You are not supposed to mix alcohol with it at all …if you haven’t been able to get ahold of him …have someone check in on him

General Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder are making it difficult to work, can I get disability benifits?

I have been diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder and I also have Panic Attacks. I have been put on anti-depressents and go to the dr. regularly. I took a month off of work from both of my jobs. I have went back to the jobs this past Tuesday, and it is still VERY difficult to work and concentrate and even get out of bed.

Is this a valid reason to qualify for disability? If so, how?

Chosen Answer:

I do believe you can. My dad was put on “mental disability” due to depression. Contact your local disability office. Social Security I believe it is. Good luck and God bless you. I’m sorry you’re having a difficult time, I pray that you get better.

Why are panic disorder and OCD both considered anxiety disorders?

I don’t understand why OCD and Panic Disorder are both considered anxiety disorders. What makes an anxiety disorder an anxiety disorder? please help

Chosen Answer:

With OCD, the obsessions themselves are a source of anxiety. Many people think OCD is some kind of delusion, or that the rituals of OCD are a drive beyond a person’s physical control, but that is not correct. What is happening is the object of the person’s obsessive thoughts vexs them, makes them fearful or nervous. Take for example the common OCD obsession of germs. The person is fearful that germs (from whatever source) will make them ill, in pain, even kill them. With the compulsions (which refers to the repeated physical actions), they are intended to alleviate the anxiety; the person feels anxiety of increasing severity if they don’t do the compulsion. Once they do it, they get brief relief of the anxiety, though it always comes back.

Panic Disorder is characterized by both panic attacks, and anxiety about future attacks occurring. The attack itself is a state of intense fear, though it is often misinterpreted as the sign of an illness.

All anxiety disorders share that common thread of “fear” and apprehension.

Can you Take Klonopin without dosing down Ativan?

Go figure, yes I am a worry person, and I read that when on Benzos you need to dose down to avoid serious effects. So if my Doctor decided to give me Klonopin today, because of its longer lasting over Ativan, do I need to dose down the Ativan first or can I take it tonight? I forgot to ask her and now I would have to wait 4 days to talk with her about it. Anybody know?

Chosen Answer:

Benzodiazepines are interchangeable and one benzo can (usually) replace another without having to wean off the first one. This can be tricky when going from something like Xanax to say, Valium as their duration of action and strengths are much different. Klonopin and Ativan are pretty similar in terms of half-life and potency so it should be fine. The reason they say to wean of is because serious complications can occur from benzo withdrawal as it is one of the most dangerous. But that is only if you are stopping “cold turkey”. If you are switching from one to another, that is totally different and weaning off shouldn’t be necessary, however your doctor should have told you exactly what she wanted you to do.

Do those with panic disorder need medication?

Is it necessary for someone with panic disorder and agoraphobia to be medicated like those who have bipolar or schizophrenia, or can it be helped via other methods? Is it even better not to medicate someone with anxiety? Thoughts?

Chosen Answer:

Recovery began to progress more rapidly for me with medication, positive thinking, behavior therapy and psychotherapy..

I didn’t use benzodiazepines or other narcotics. Recovery is ongoing and is a long process. It may never end completely. But I come and go freely and without fear these days.

Medication alone did not work. Psychotherapy alone did not work. It took a combination of recovery tools; mental, physical and spiritual to recover sanity.
